An EXCELLENT Assortment of RARE , Boer War - Southern Rhodesia Volunteers & Bulawayo Laager B/W Photographs. These pieces remain in a well-preserved state and still retain good clarity / detail. The Photographs depict the mustering of the Volunteers at the outbreak of hostilities in 1899 ; as well as the departure of ' E-Squadron' known as the Western Division embarking for South Africa. These scenes vary and also include the Southern Rhodesia Volunteers on the parade field in Bulawayo - including a large image of the Bulawayo Pioneer Laager being erected in 1896. 

The Southern Rhodesia Volunteers, comprised of personnel from the BSAP , Rhodesia Regiment , Rhodesia Horse and many other Colonial formations. These  Units served to successfully lift the siege of Mafikeng (13 October 1899 - 17 May 1900) from Boer Forces under General Piet Cronje.
