An EXCELLENT pair of WW1 Medals with Silk Ribbons as attested to Private C.G. Greaves of the 3rd South African Horse. The pair consists of the .925 Silver British War Medal & Bi-Lingual Victory Medal , and remains in a well preserved state. The 3rd SA Horse formed part of the Mounted component of Jan Smuts Forces in East Africa during 1916 and were dispatched to the Kilimanjaro region. Along with the 4th Regiment S.A.H , these units were under command of Major-General van Deventer and conducted operations at Ufiome, Ssalanga and Kondoalrangi against German forces under Colonel von Lettow-Vorbeck.

The ideal addition to any First World War South African & Commonwealth Medal collection or display- for the enthusiast seeking a well preserved period set.
