Description: Three volume set. Full contemporary tree calf leather binding with gilt decoration on spine and gilt borders, which is very attractive.
The tree shapes on the leather front covers are formed by using acid etching the patterns into the leather and is quite beautiful. This is a very early example of the art ,as it was only first used in bookbinding in the late 18th century.
Title label missing from volume 2 and number label missing from volume 1. Volume 1 has a small chip out of the bottom corner of the title page but the text is clean and complete in all volumes with charming vignettes. Original marbled endpapers. Otherwise a very good set.
