18th century mahogany compact gentleman's chest of draws with brushing slide
the rectangular top with molded edges with a brushing slide below, there are 4 graduated draws with brass plate handles and escutcheon supported on bracket feet.
there is one lock mechanism missing in the first draw. due to age there is a narrow crack in one draw but it does not affect the use of the draw. This unit has not been restored like most others as it in my opinion looks better in its natural state.
size height 78cm x w 66.5cm x depth 45cm
The brushing slide was for the men in the 18th century who all wore wigs, to clean and brush out their wigs of all the powder the used to put in them and also to
brush off their jackets which were naturally also full of powder from their wigs.
