Description: Art Deco Smoothie Travelling iron. Circa 1946. Ref.MA/44
Maker: Lucas Holder Ltd, Coventry, England
Date: 1946-1948
History: Designed by Christopher Kerr, this Art Deco steel and Bakelite electric Iron was originally fitted with a lamp socket so the traveller could connect it to any light socket, usually a ceiling light. It was compact, well made and a boon to the traveller. Note: There is NO earth wire, in the late 1940, the public were not too concerned with safety in those days..! This iron would not be allowed for use today unless a three-core cordage was fitted.
Description: The iron is not working to the best of my knowledge but appears to be in good condition overall. The cordage is in excellent condition, and the iron comes with its original box.
Condition: Apart from not working, the iron is in good condition
Dimensions: 11cm in length x 5 cm in width and 6cm in height
