In 1923 an Italian priest, Father Carlo Crespi, came to Ecuador as a missionary. Befriending the indigenous Shuar people, he learned of an ancient treasure they had sworn to protect hidden in underground tunnels. These amazing artefacts included golden sarcophagi from Egypt, bronze plaques depicting scenes from antiquity, copper wheels and gears hard as steel, and strange machines. Just before Father Crespi's death, the Ecuadorian government purchased the collection from the church and it was lost forever. Richard Wingate reveals that the ancient civilisation responsible for these advanced artefacts was Atlantis, and shows how a prehistoric nuclear war resulted in the sinking of Atlantis.
