This is a genuine British Army MkII Osprey body armour vest, used in Afghanistan circa 2007. The same kind of vest that was used by all British Army, British Royal Marines Commando during Operation Herrick 6.
The vest includes a set of ammo pouches which hold STANAG magazines for the L85 Assault Rifle, a personal Medical Pouch, a general purpose pouch, a grenade pouch, an admin pouch and ID Patch and Blood Group patch, and rank tab. It also includes a Desert DPM Camelbak hydration system on the back and a canteen pouch with new old stock british canteen and canteen cup.
Lastly, this vest also includes the removable collar and shoulder/upper arm protectors. This is rare to find as these were often removed and discarded by most soliders and generally were only worn by squaddies in a gunner role on vehicles.
The vest does NOT contain any body armour or ballistic protection. The ballistic inserts and hard armour plates for this kind of vest are quite difficult to get outside of the British army. But the vest has been fitted with foam inserts to bulk it out for display purposes.
This Vest is not common in South Africa and you will be hard pressed to find another. It makes a great addition to any collection.
Please also see my other listings for a matching Mk6 Ballistic Helmet which would complete this nicely.
Size: 190/120 - Sized for a person who is 190cm tall with a 120cm chest. It is adjustable for comfort so there is some wiggle room. I'm 183cm tall and it fits me fine.
