 25 x Butternut Squash Seeds

Butternut Squash (Cucurbita moschata) is a popular and versatile variety known for its sweet, nutty flavor and smooth, orange flesh. Ideal for roasting, soups, and purees, this squash is a favorite in both savory and sweet dishes.

Unique Qualities:

  • Sweet, nutty flavor with smooth, orange flesh
  • Ideal for roasting, soups, and purees
  • Long storage life and high nutritional value
  • Easy to grow with vigorous, sprawling vines

Growing Season:Butternut Squash thrives when planted in late spring after the danger of frost has passed, preferring full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. Regular watering and feeding support healthy growth and fruit development. Allow ample space for the sprawling vines to spread out.

Time to Harvest:Expect to harvest your Butternut Squash approximately 80-100 days after planting. The squash is ready when the skin turns a deep orange and has a hard texture. Harvest by cutting the squash from the plant with a clean, sharp knife.

Note: Butternut Squash is a different species (Cucurbita moschata) compared to many other common squashes, which are typically Cucurbita pepo (including varieties such as zucchini, pattypan squash, straughtneck, squash crookneck squash, gem squash, acorn squash, delicata squash, spaghetti squash, summer squash, and all varieties  of pumpkin). This difference is why buttenut takes longer to grow and mature and doesn't grow well even in the summers of cold climates such as Canada and Northern Europe
