Didi is a young Goth girl who believes that she is the personification of death - because she is. She is Death in mortal form. Death appears in mortal aspect once every 100 years in order to remain grounded and in touch with humanity, citing Sandman #21: "One day in every century, Death takes on mortal flesh, better to comprehend what the lives she takes must feel like, to taste the bitter tang of mortality."
Didi guides a suicidal young man, Sexton, on a path of self-discovery. Sexton learns that life is, and his wish to die fades as his love for the girl claiming to be Death grows.
