This is a classy GMP model of the dinky 1972 Championship winning Ferrari 312Pb.
When the 5-litre sports prototype cars were outlawed for 1972 and a new 3-litre engine limit imposed, a number of constructors turned to 3-litre F1 engines. Endurance versions of the F1 engines were produced and used in the new smaller sportscars.
Ferrari utilised its Flat12 3-litre F1 engine and installed it in the Ferrari 312Pb. It went on to dominate the 1972 World Sportscar Championship winning very race entered and following that up with second place in 1973 beaten by Matra using their 3-litre V12 from their F1 exploits.
This model captures the sparse and plain design. It features removable bodywork panels revealing in astonishing detail the compact Flat12 engine, driver's cockpit and chassis. Upgraded from the GMP Prototype version to reflect the full Ferrari race livery as used in 1972.
This is a virtually unobtainable model now and of a significant Ferrari which has been seldom modeled. A gem for any collection.
In excellent condition and supplied in a perfect original box.
