As a child and teenager, I visited the vibrant streets of Johannesburg, enchanted by its energy and spirit. My journey as an abstract artist has been deeply rooted in these memories. The "My Jozi Series" is a heartfelt tribute to the city that shaped me. Each piece in this collection captures my love for Johannesburg, reflecting its dynamic essence and ever-evolving landscape.
Johannesburg, once known as the "City of Gold," has transformed over the years. The bustling metropolis that once glittered with promise now faces challenges, with parts of it becoming derelict and plagued by crime and illegal immigration. Despite these changes, my affection for Jozi remains unwavering. Through my art, I aim to evoke the spirit of the city as I remember it, while acknowledging its present-day realities.
"My Jozi Series" is not just a collection of artworks; it's a narrative of nostalgia, transformation, and resilience. It is an invitation to see Johannesburg through my eyes and to feel the profound connection I have with this remarkable city.
