VINTAGE MADE BETWEEN 1972 AND 1989.

THE 24 KARAT GOLD DECORATION FEATURES A FOILAGE BORDER JUST BELOW ALL THE GOLD STRIPED RIMS.

EACH TEACUP FEATURES A DIFFERENT HAND DECORATED IMAGE OF A COURTING COUPLE.

TEAPOT, CREAMER AND SUGAR POT ALSO HAS A COURTING COUPLE SCENE.

ALL IN VERY GOOD CONDITION.

PORZELLENMALEREI KUBA (1930-1989):
In 1930 the 1896 born Josef Kuba opened a small porcelain factory with its own little decoration studio in the city of Karlsbad (Czech Republic). During World War II the area was overrun by German forces and remained occupied until 1945. Following the end of the war, Kuba re-established his decoration business in a building on Herbstweg road in the southern part of Wiesau (Bavaria).
 
Since then, his work was mainly based on pieces from the Porzellanfabrik Carl Schumann factory in Arzberg (Bavaria) or the Heinrich & Co. factory in Selb (Bavaria) although he occasionally used items by other manufacturers, for example Hutschenreuther or Tirschenreuth.
 
While Kuba decorated many items in a number of different styles like 'Alt-Wien' (Old Vienna) or Rembrandt, he preferred to include transfer applications based on oil paintings by the French artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard that mainly depict courting couples.
 
After the death of Josef Kuba in 1972 his son Horst Kuba continued business until he decided to close in 1989. The 'HK' mark was verified via Sandra Kuba Horst Kubas daughter.
 
24 KARAT GOLD LEAF:
Gold leaf is a decorative material that has been used for thousands of years.  Gold leaf, sometimes called gold foil, is gold that has been beaten into a very thin sheet that averages about 0.12 microns in thickness.  Gold leaf is so thin that blowing on a gold leaf will disturb it, and touching it with a finger will destroy it.  Because of its thinness, a sheet of gold leaf rubbed between your hands will virtually disappear, leaving only a slight sheen.
 
Gold leaf comes in a variety of karat values and shades which vary from yellow to silvery. 24k gold is 99.9% gold and is yellowish in appearance. 12k is 50% gold and the rest usually silver, which results in it frequently being called White Gold. 22k gold leaf is about 92% gold, and is commonly used for picture frames.
 
Pure gold leaf (24k) will not tarnish or change color over time.  Silver leaf, 18k and 12k gold leaf will darken if not sealed against oxidation
