VINTAGE JAPANESE HAND CARVED CHESS BOARD

BEAUTIFUL AND UNUSUAL PIECE!

Folding board with two drawers and solid brass fittings

An exquisite vintage Oriental piece that will certainly draw attention!

The board is carved from what looks like Teak and has solid brass hinges and handles. A dragon has been hand carved onto each corner of the board, with the design continuing down the side and drawer faces.

The squares are of some kind of plastic or resin, featuring Japanese scenes and emblems and has virtually no wear to them. It has a red velvet lined drawer on each side to hold the chess pieces and folds up to half size for transport or storage.

The board is in really good condition and has only a few marks and scratches, mostly to the underside. The lining in one of the drawers is coming loose and might have to be glued back into place (second last image). Most of the elastic bands to hold the chess pieces in place for transport have lost their stretch a bit.
