A pdf Copy of the Booklet, The Trade Tokens of Strachan and Company by C.S. Balson & C. Graham.

The booklet was privately published in 1978 after the entire stock of S&Co tokens, held in storage after being withdrawn by the company in 1932, had been made available to the authors by Mr Kenneth Strachan, a descendant of the original owner. The booklet records their research into the tokens and the history of Strachan & Company. In particular it was they who discovered all four varieties of the token. 

Clive Graham and Scott Balson were at the time both members of the Pietermaritzburg Numismatic Society, where this seller in now also a member.

The original of this booklet came into my possession along with a purchase of a large number of S&Co tokens from the treasurer of Strachan & Company. It is signed by both Balson and Graham and numbered 87/500. The authors had given several copies to Kenneth Strachan on which he in turn had written: "With the Compliments of the Directors of Strachan & Co. Ltd October 1978" and presented them to senior staff members.

The booklet is rare. The majority were destroyed by a fire in Balson's home.
