Controlled Bubbles Bullicante Art Glass Paperweight Size 6.5cm Diam No 3 of 4

THIS IS A CONTROLLED BUBBLES ART GLASS PAPERWEIGHT. ITS 6.5CM IN DIAMETER AND HAS A CUTOFF BASE AND WEIGHS AROUND 500G. VINTAGE MID TWENTIETH CENTURY AND MOST PROPABLY ITALIAN.
 
Controlled bubble glass, also known as Bolle or Bullicante, is glass thats embedded with bubbles. Particularly popular during the 1950s among Murano glass artists, the bubbles are typically created by rolling the molten glass on a metal surface covered in sharp spikes, poking holes that are then covered with another layer of glass, trapping air in the holes.
