Prince Charles and Lady Diana Marriage 1981 Gold Stamp Replica in Case * 18ct 27.5 gm *

A Gold Stamp Replica Commemorating the Marriage in 1981 of Charles, the Prince of Wales, to Lady Diana Spencer. The replica comes in an impressive presentation case together with the actual stamp (UK 25p) and a certificate stating a world mintage of 5,000.

18ct gold. Beautifully toned. 29.9 mm x 40.6 mm. 27.53 gm. Actual pure gold content, 0.663 troy ounces. Despite what the certificate says, this replica has been struck in South Africa by E. Tiessen of Johannesburg. This practice was not uncommon, being more sensible to use local gold for the South African market and ship out the dies. On the back there is the maker's mark "ET+" and the SABS hallmarks for 18ct gold and the date letter H for 1981. Also stamped with the issue number 4273, the same number as on the certificate.
