Almost every device today uses a memory card; be it a mobile phone or a digital camera, photo printer or a gaming console. But to manipulate and make use of its contents, you have to use your computer. However, computers generally do not come with a facility to read memory cards and that's where a memory card reader comes into play. The Red Bridge RB-532 Multi-card reader is one such device.
The Red Bridge Multi-card reader itself is very compact. Unlike other memory card readers, this one has a form factor that is similar to a USB Flash drive, but only a little thicker. It is so portable that you can just slip it into your pocket and carry it along. It plugs directly into a free USB port and since it is Plug n Play, you can directly start using it without any drivers.
The card reader can read up to 14 types of memory card formats. The different media card formats supported include: SD, SDHC, miniSD, miniSDHC, microSD, microSDHC, MMC, RS-MMC, Memory Stick Micro (M2), Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO Duo, T-Flash.
On seeing the device for the first time, you may be wonder why it says it is a 14 card reader when it has just four slots. However, a closer inspection will disclose the secret that a single card slot can read multiple versions of similar cards; such as, SD and SDHC, MS, MS PRO, MS Duo and MS PRO Duo, etc. The slots are present on either sides of the reader as you can see in the images. USB 2.0 speed is supported, but it is also compatible with the older USB 1.1 standards. Simply plug it in and the media reader shows up as a removable storage device in the Windows Explorer. You can only read one card at a time.
