.Quite exceptional Bini / Edo piece in several respects...

- the subject: if we know a lot about the heads of Oba, queens and others, we know much less about the very beautiful animal bronzes of this ethnic group.

- use : it is not an ordinary decorative bronze but a container having had a ritual use.

Aries, in the culture of the Bini founders, is always represented in this very noble position, comparable to the statues of the Egyptian gods.

A royal animal par excellence, just like the leopard, it was also the animal of choice for the Oba's sacrifices at his altar of heads.
