COLLECTABLE!! Royal Mint: 1986 Commonwealth Games Brilliant Uncirculated 2 Pound Coin in nickel-brass, measuring 28.4mm and weighing 15.98g. The Commonwealth games 2 Pound coin has a limited mintage of about 3000 and commemorates the XIII Commonwealth games held in Edinburgh between 24 July and 2 August 1986. It is the first commemorative coin in the UK where the theme is a sporting event. The reverse design by Norman Sillman features a Scottish Thistle superimposed on St Andrew's Cross, which is also a symbol of Scotland. Uncharacteristically for British coins, the date is on the reverse, while the value and denomination are on the obverse. Offers WELCOME. Includes booklet but no certificate, which would mean that this coin could sell again for THOUSANDS. There is an engraving along edge, "Commonwealth XIII" certifying its' originality.
