Roselle is an annual or perennial plant best known for producing the Jamaica tea, the plant grows up to 2 meters tall. The plant is known by a variety of names, including Flor de Jamaica, Florida cranberry, Jamaican Sorrel, and Hibiscus.
The leaves, fruits, roots and seeds are used as food, medicinal teas, and as fiber in textiles. The young leaves and tender stems can be consumed as a raw vegetable and/ or added to salads.
Nutritional Facts: A 2020 review notes that some evidence suggests 23 cups per day may be beneficial for high blood pressure. But there are no long-term studies on the effects of drinking hibiscus tea every day among the general population.
