The name Lazy Housewife may sound derogatory but it is believed that when these beans were released all of the housewives wanted the string less bean as it cut out so much processing time. This 'advance' to a string less runner bean caused the seeds men of those times to say that this was a bean for the lazy house wife... and the name just stuck!
