This gives access to a massive range of apps, including the highly popular YouTube, BBC iPlayer, Lovefilm, Twitter, Facebook and many more. In addition to an application based browser for the most well known sites, the BDPS490 also comes with the Opera web browser for full Internet access (display of embedded video restricted). The BDPS490 is also DLNA compliant meaning that you can stream data from your laptop, PC or NAS drive device. Streaming from your home network hub can be via Ethernet cable or an optional USB dongle connected to the rear USB socket. Thanks to smartphone apps for iPhone or Android, you can take control of the Sony with your phone's comprehensive touch screen. Taking this a stage further is the new wireless 'push' and 'throw' facility. Use your smart phone to 'push' stored music, photos or video to your TV via the Blu-ray player. Likewise you can 'throw' the webpage you're browsing on your smartphone or tablet to the TV's screen, also via this Blu-ray player.
