If you prefer spinning music, scratch out a mean beat with the Stanton T.80. This digital turntable with a high-torque direct drive motor features two start/stop switches for mixing or battling, three playback speeds (33, 45, 78 RPM), and a pitch control slider. Its S/PDIF digital output lets you archive vinyl.Â
The T-80 is part of the new T series of Stanton turntables. This line offers a new take on an old technology, with flowing contours, a straight skip-proof tone arm, detachable target light, and dual start/stop buttons for DJ action.
This direct-drive turntable turns at 33-1/3 RPM, 45 RPM, and 78 RPM. The T-80 offers new digital-era features, including a Key Lock function that lets you vary song tempo without changing the pitch. There is an S/PDIF digital output, as well as a switchable phono line output. The T-80 is designed for DJ scratching, so the tone arm does not provide anti-skate or height adjustments.
The T-80 comes with a Stanton 500B cartridge mounted in its head shell using two screws. For heavy scratching, you should add the extra shell weight for better tracking. You can mount the cartridge with an in-line setting so it is straight with the shell and tone arm. You can also slide the cartridge forward and back in the shell.
