The Roma Plum Tomato is a popular tomato used for both canning and producing tomato paste because of its slender and firm nature.  Commonly found in supermarkets, Roma Tomatoes are also known as Italian Tomatoes or Italian Plum Tomatoes.

Roma Plum Tomatoes are egg- or pear-shaped and red in colour when fully ripe.  Roma Plum Tomato plants can mature in under 3 months, and the plant itself grows between 1-1.5 meters in height, and the single fruit weighs about 60 grams.  The vine fruits heavily, making Roma Plum Tomatoes a popular variety with gardeners who do a lot of home canning.

The Roma Tomato is determinate, which means it grows in a bush to a predetermined height, but because it is a prolific producer, it will need to have support to grow on, which makes it a vining variety.
