Towards a Poor Theatre by Jerzy Grotowski is a critical work written in 1965. The following notes the core concept of the book:
The book opens with Peter Brooks Preface, which begins with the famous words: Grotowski is unique. Brooks introduction is followed by two texts which present a synthesis of Grotowskis most important ideas on the theatre and theatre practice: Towards a Poor Theatre and The Theatres New Testament, which was a transcript of his conversations with Barba, an abridged version of which had already appeared as the text Aktor ogołocony (The actor stripped bare) (as retrieved from https://grotowski.net/en/encyclopedia/towards-poor-theatre)
This version of the book was printed in 2002 by Routledge and includes a preface by Peter Brook and was edited by Eugenio Barba.
The book is in a used condition and it is important to note that there are some pages which are creased at the back from being in contact with steam. The book has no mould and is not damaged that you are unable to read the text or see the pictures but from 227-262 the bottom section of the pages are creased.
