Could be the only one still in existence - a heavy copper basket (1.3kg) used during the election when the public had to vote in favour of/or not in favour of the Union of South Africa becoming a republic. The basket has a copper plate base which is engraved " F. F. V. W. B. 1960" on the inside and "GEMAAK 5 OKT 1960 GEDURENDE ELEKSIE UITSLAG" on the base. It is in exceptionally good condition with no damage and was obviously looked after well.
