USA- 1851/57-3c Red-Scott #10 & #10A & #11 used. Price R195
1851 1857 Issue 3c Stamps:
- Scott #10, 3c, Type I.
1. There are no inner lines, which indicate Type I.
2. Detailed lines on top off head, cross-hatching lines and rosettes indicates early 3c design when the higher quality colouring was still in use. These factors tend to identify #10.
3: Blue postmark Ville indicates Steamboat Louiseville?
- Scott #10A, 3c, Type II.
1: Refer to attached photo showing that there are inner lines as well as outer frame lines ie Type II (clear but all light). Type I do not have inner lines.
2: Detailed cross-hatching lines and rosettes (refer to enlargement) usually indicates early 3c design when the higher quality colouring was still in use. Blue postmark O R (Baltimore?) could also possibly indicate early use; there are cases where early use was Blue but later changed to Black.
- Scott #11, 3c Dull Red, Type I.
1: LARGE type Boston Paid postmark is a clear indication for Scott #11. Boston Paid used on #10 has SMALL type Boston Paid.
2: There are no inner lines that would indicate Type I.
