HOHNER GUITARS: Hohner started to make some electric guitars in the 1950s as they were sold in the United Kingdom under the name Hohner London. In the 1970s, the company decided to start producing classical and acoustic guitars. ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS ARTISTS OF ALL TIME, PRINCE, WAS KNOWN TO BE AN AVID FAN OF HOHNER GUITARS. HE ALWAYS USES A HOHNER MAD CAT GUITAR, AS HE CONSIDERS IT TO BE ONE OF HIS FAVORITE GUITARS. GUITARS WERE THEN PRODUCED UNDER THE HOHNER BRAND FROM AROUND 1975 TO 2015, WHEN HOHNER WITHDREW COMPLETELY FROM THE GUITAR MARKET. Some of the Hohner guitars that were made in the 1980s were from Japan and some in Korea, but in the 2000s, they started to transfer their operations to China until around 2015. It has been a while since Hohner stopped making guitars, and there is no news on whether they are going back to making their famous guitars. HOHNER CLASSICAL GUITARS ARE ONE OF THE MORE HIGHLY-TOUTED BRANDS IN THEIR HEYDAY AS THEY ARE USUALLY ONE OF THE GO-TO CLASSICAL GUITARS FOR STUDENTS AND CHILDREN. MOST OF THESE GUITARS WERE MADE IN THE 80S AND 90S, AND STILL, YOU CAN SEE THEM BEING SOLD AS USED GUITARS IN GREAT CONDITION IN ONLINE MUSIC STORES.

HOHNER (1857-present): Founded in Trossingen in the south west of Germay in 1857 by watchmaker, Matthias Hohner. At the start of the 20th century, Matthias handed over the business to his five sons. By 1930, Hohner had acquired a number of its competitors and had become the largest musical instrument company in the world, employing around 4,000 people. Despite the interruption of the Second World War, and the enlisting of the company by the Nazis to produce detonators for the war effort, Hohner continued to flourish in the 1950s, with large numbers of its harmonicas finding their way to export markets. Hofner also started to make guitars in the 1950s with the rise of Rock n Roll. The 1970s and 1980s saw diversification into electronic instruments as harmonica sales plummeted. Hohner still headquartered in Germany and still in business.
