J & G Meakin were earthenware manufacturers of domestic tableware at Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent
In the 20th century the firm has been most widely recognised for the "Sol" wares produced between 1912 and 1963 for home and hotel use.
Post war expansion in the home market for domestic tableware resulted in the production of a wide range of traditional and fashionable shapes and patterns.
In 1968 Meakins joined with Midwinters. 
In 1970 they were taken over by the Wedgwood group. 
The design and markings indicate that the milk jug was probably produced @ the 1950's.
The Sunshine Pattern was produced from 1940 and discontinued in 1963.
Condition: Very Good, for a rather old milk jug the decoration and gold edging is all in excellent condition, it has been very well cared for, no chips or cracks at all.
